I had taken apart many of the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cubes and had a good understanding of how they work. The 2x2x2, however, was quite the mystery to me. So I went out and bought one. The first thing I did was take it apart, and now I have made a Sketchup model of it and it's internal components.
Below are some pictures and you can download the model
here.

Hey, did you ever end up finding a way to put it back together? I accidentally took mine apart and I cant figure out how to put it back together and I cant find any site that can show how. If you can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.
They are a pain to put back together. The last cube really requires some force to get it where it needs to be. I didn't hesitate to use tools. If I recall I used some big plyers and a flat head screw driver to force it where it neede to go.
Rubik's Ice Cube is a lot easier to reassemble, hard to explain in words... Look it up on youtube.
The Ice cube was actually what I used to get all the measurements. That could be why I had an easier time getting it back together.
